1985 GWA, Christine Paynter with Supreme Inspector, Emily F. Meyer

We were fascinated by the beginnings of our assembly. Mrs. Christine Paynter was a Past Grand Worthy Advisor of New York State from W. Mark Sexson Assembly #15. She helped pave the way for future Rainbow assemblies in NY, and she continued to be an inspiration by passing down to her offspring the teachings of how to also give back to our communities. Her daughter also fulfilling the legacy of being Past Grand Worthy Advisor of New York State. We believe she truly exemplifies and embodies Rainbow spirit in dedicating a life of service.

My Rainbow
Story
I was one of 5 girls initiated into W. Mark on June 27, 1978. After holding 2 bow stations, Chaplain, and the Drill Leader, I began my trip to the East and was installed as Worthy Advisor on May 16, 1981. My theme was, "Rainbows of today, Let Dreams of Tomorrow Come True." At that time we didn't really have colors but my mascot was Snoopy. At that time we had 3 terms a year, each lasting approximately 4 months. I had the summer term so we had a camping trip and a pool party. Unfortunately, I do not recall what our Charity Project was for that term.

As Deputy Lecturer, I traveled within our district to Midwood and Harmony-Pilgrim Assemblies, presented a School of Instruction, and prepared and presided at a mini-Grand Officer's reception.

In 1985, I was installed as Grand Worthy Advisor of New York State. My theme was "Believe in the Magic of the Rainbow." Snoopy was once again my mascot and my colors were light blue and lavender. The State Charity Project was Make a Wish Foundation and the following year was The American Cancer Society.

After attaining majority, I was installed as Mother Advisor of W. Mark and remained in office for 7 years (although I don't recall the dates).

I then married in 1994 and began raising a family. I have lost touch with Rainbow then, however, in 2005, I believe I attended Grand Assembly to attend the memorial service for Betsy Willis, our Supreme Deputy then. 2 years later my oldest daughter, Danielle, was initiated into Suwassett Assembly in Suffolk County. In 2010 my younger daughter was also initiated.
Imagine how proud I was when my eldest daughter was installed as Grand Worthy Advisor of NYS in 2015, 30 years after me.
During that time I became Mother Advisor of Suwassett for 5 years and have been an active advisory board member ever since. I am currently serving as the Grand Assembly Chairperson and a member of the State Board.
